Senior Pastor, Abundant Life Baptist Church, Lee's Summit, MO

Rev. Phil Hopper

Picture
Pastor Phil Hopper became pastor of Abundant Life Baptist Church in Lee’s Summit, MO in February 2000. Prior to Phil entering the ministry, he was a police officer and sergeant on the Kansas City, MO Police Department where he served as a SWAT team member. It was there that Phil was awarded the “Distinguished Service Award” as well as the “Gold Award for Valor” and was honored with being named the “National Tactical Officer of the Year” for 1997. It was through his experiences as a police officer that God was uniquely preparing Phil for the ministry.

He answered the call in early 2000 to pastor a small church of about a 100 people in Lee’s Summit, MO. Since that time Phil has watched God do amazing things in the life of the church, watching it grow to an average weekend attendance of over 2400. Phil has led the church through three major building campaigns and property acquisitions. His fondest saying is that “If we can explain it then God didn’t do it”. He gives all the glory to God and is most thrilled by watching lives being changed through the power of Jesus Christ.
